FPA TOUCH! – FIBER POTENTIAL ANALYZER

 

The FPA touch! is designed for the accurate and easy determination of the Zeta Potential of fiber suspension according to the Helmholtz-Smoluchowski equation by simultaneously measuring conductivity, pressure, and the streaming current potential.

The knowledge of the fiber charges in the pulp is the key for the optimized dosage of chemical aids, which should be adsorbed onto the surface of the fiber. The mostly negatively (anionic) charged fiber is adsorbing the positive (cationic) charged additives in the papermaking process.

The fiber adsorption of cationic starch, wet strength resin, and many other chemical aids can be easily measured with original samples on-site to optimize the dosage of chemicals in the wet end of the paper manufacturing process.

 

 

CAS TOUCH! – CHARGE ANALYZING SYSTEM

 

The new CAS touch! Charge Analyzing System is a laboratory instrument developed for the accurate and easy determination of Particle Charge in the wet end of the paper/board production and any aqueous charge system.

CAS touch! uses the standard techniques of titration for determining the cationic/anionic and acid/base demands of aqueous charge systems. Modern electronic components enable the high accuracy of the measurement. Both Streaming Potential (mV) and pH of a given aqueous solution can be measured simultaneously, thereby providing a quick determination of the isoelectric and flocculation points.

CAS touch! examines the correlation between pH, titrant demand, and streaming potential.

 

 

FPO – FIBER POTENTIAL ANALYZER ONLINE

 

The Emtec Fiber Potential Analyzer Online (FPO) is an advanced measuring device for the fully automatic and accurate ONLINE measurement of the Zeta Potential of fibers in the paper and board machines for efficient process control.

DFA – DYNAMIC FILTRATION ANALYZER

 

The Dynamic Filtration Analyzer (DFA) determines quickly and accurately the influence of chemicals on the filtration characteristics of fiber suspensions by an automatic analysis of drainage and retention.

The DFA is operated through a PC. The user-friendly software controls the measurement and allows a sophisticated analysis and reporting of all results. To simulate different process conditions, all relevant data to configure a mixing profile is stored and used for automatic measurements.

The computer software allows displaying different graphs, comparing results, adding all kinds of parameters to charts, or creating comparable figures e.g., the quantity of dosed chemicals can be compared to the dehydration velocity. The software, additionally, can export all measurement data to the MS Office Excel spreadsheet for further analysis. DFA also has an integrated pH-measurement.

ACA – ASH CONTENT ANALYZER

 

The Emtec Ash Content Analyzer (ACA) is a new measuring device for a speedy, easy and accurate determination of total ash content (fillers & pigments) and percentage distribution of the individual filler components of typical mineral filler and pigment content in paper and board eg., calcium carbonate, kaolin/talcum, titanium dioxide without combustion

The quick measuring procedure leads to the instant availability of measuring results and therefore allows for an indeed immediate reaction to changes in the process. 

With the traditional combustion method according to ISO 2144, DIN 54370, TAPPI T413, and 211, the total content and few selected individual fillers can only be determined through an extremely time and energy consuming and in the routine operation of relatively inaccurate combustion of the samples at different temperatures (+/- 5%, operator-dependent!). The combustion method is also disadvantageous due to its destructive measuring procedure.

The Emtec PDA.C 02 MST, Penetration Dynamic Analyzer (Module Standard) is a special tester for the determination of converting process-relevant surface parameters of paper and board via the assessment of the wetting & absorption of liquids.

The PDA.C 02 MST and appropriate testing liquids help to characterize both, surface porosity and hydrophobic surface sizing. The contact of the testing liquid with the sample surface is measured in the relevant time for the converting process, i.e., measurement is possible in the very first milliseconds (surface porosity) or seconds (hydrophobic surface sizing).

  • Impregnating process of decor paper: impregnating resin absorption by decor papers

Emtec PDA.C 02 MSC, Penetration Dynamic Analyzer Modules MSC Standard Coating with CMA coating measurement accessories are instruments designed for examining the coating color and base paper interactions. They enable to
detect differences in base papers, coating colors, and coated papers, which would lead to quality changes during converting process but which are not or only insufficiently detected by classical measuring methods.

The contact between coating color and base coating paper takes place under high shear and pressure pulse, leading to a good simulation of the coating machine applicator. Pilot coater and machine trials indicate the effects of coating color and base paper variations.
